Preserving the Voices of Our Community
Every individual's story is a valuable thread in the rich tapestry of our community's history.
At Mud Color, we believe that every individual's story is a valuable thread in the rich tapestry of our community's history. Our Executive Director, Coreen Williams, is a resource for teaching learners how to capture a story. She is determined to change the narrative in the world by collecting the stories of community members. Mud Color's program, EVERYDAY PEOPLE, is her personal passion project. As we strive to preserve the essence of our shared experiences, we recognize the unique power of oral history in capturing the voices of everyday people.
In a world dominated by digital communication, the significance of oral narratives is sometimes overlooked. Yet, the stories passed down from generation to generation hold a unique power to connect us to our roots, fostering a deeper understanding of who we are as a community. Our nonprofit is dedicated to ensuring that the voices of everyday people are not lost to the sands of time.
Through our EVERYDAY PEOPLE Project, we embark on a mission to document and archive the personal narratives of individuals from diverse backgrounds, capturing the nuances of their daily lives, challenges, triumphs, and cultural perspectives. These stories serve as a testament to the resilience and strength embedded in the fabric of our community.
Our team of passionate volunteers works tirelessly to conduct interviews, create audio recordings, and transcribe the oral histories we collect. By providing a platform for individuals to share their unique experiences, we aim to create a living record that future generations can access and learn from.
In preserving the oral history of everyday people, we bridge the gap between past and present, fostering a sense of continuity and connection. We invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavor, ensuring that the voices of our community endure for generations to come. Together, let us weave a narrative that celebrates the diversity, strength, and resilience of our shared history.
